LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - LA Galaxy has high hopes for the 2017 season, with that being said they have made a tough decision to trade A.J. DeLaGarza to Houston Dynamo. In return, the Galaxy received $125,000 in General Allocation Money and $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money.

DeLaGarza, taken with the 17th pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, quickly established himself as a reliable, durable performer who can play a number of positions across the backline. DeLaGarza played nine years with the LA Galaxy, making 204 appearances for the club. The three-time MLS Cup Champion (2011, 2012, 2014) DeLaGarzais one of five players in club history to make over 200 appearances alongside club legends Cobi Jones, Mauricio Cienfuegos, Kevin Hartman and Landon Donovan.

After the DeLaGarza trade, Vagenas believes that the club will be bullish bolstering the roster going forward. “We’re looking forward to adding a few pieces. I obviously think there is an intention to make it a bit younger throughout our squad, so we’ll continue to look to do that,” Vagenas said. “This move does give us some flexibility in terms of financial restraints that we had and the ability to go out and get our targets.”
