C.F. Monterrey sent LAFC home in the Leagues Cup Quarterfinals

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) inaugural Leagues Cup campaign ended at the Rose Bowl as the Club fell 3-2 in the quarterfinals to Liga MX side C.F. Monterrey.

The Black & Gold earned a 2-0 lead in the first half after Denis Bouanga converted a penalty kick just 1:27 into the game – marking the fourth fastest goal in LAFC history, and Mateusz Bogusz added a goal in the 42nd minute.

Monterrey would answer back in the second half scoring three straight-on goals from Sergio Canales (68’), an own goal, and Rogelio Funes Mori (88’) to take the lead and move on to the semifinals as the lone Liga MX club remaining in the tournament.
