Campeones Cup | LAFC falls to Tigres in PK’s

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) lost to Tigres UANL of the Liga MX in Campeones Cup, played at the BMO Stadium home of the LAFC. Tigres took the win in penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw at the end of regulation.

The LAFC was down 10 men after the 63rd minute of play when Diego Palacios was shown a second yellow card in the game. The LAFC gained control after being down a man in the second half, LAFC took the lead with Dennis Bounga with a calculated shot that was fired to the left of the Tigres goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán to make it 1-0 but the goal was called back for an infraction in the buildup.

Tigres also finished the game with 10 men after Rafael Carioca put Bounga to a halt on a breakaway in the 85th minute.

The match ended 0-0 in regulation time and would go on to finish the Campeones Cup in penalty kicks. Tigres converted all four of their penalty attempts and Nahuel Guzmán blocked two penalty kicks to help claim the Campeones Cup with a 4-2 win in pk’s over the LAFC.
