Russia 2018 Has ended the 1st game of each group and it has been an interesting ride so far. It’s a World Cup full of thrills and excitement were nothing can be predictable.

Review of The Teams on their first game:

Group A

  1. Russia – Russia had an amazing start of the competition by defeating Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the inaugural game.
  2. Uruguay – Started with a win but was it a strong start or did Egypt expose some weakness.
  3. Egypt – Superb class by the goalie and strong team all around even with Mohamed Salah in the bench.
  4. Saudi Arabia – Seamed very poor in the opening game against Russia they looked gassed out.

Group B

  1. Iran – Iran looked strong against Morocco but is it enough to hold off powerhouses Spain and Portugal?
  2. Portugal – Portugal seamed slacked on defense but Cristiano Ronaldo letting that hold him back on this world cup.
  3. Spain – Spain and Portugal had one of the best matches of the first round, Spain looked strong, but David de Gea was not at his best and it might be the reason why they lost the win.
  4. Morocco – Morocco

Group C

  1. France – The new VAR and goal-line technology came in help for France and had a great game against Australia.
  2. Denmark – Denmark looked strong against Peru and it was a back and could be a container for the top position in the group.
  3. Australia – Australia played a great game went toe-toe against one of the world cup favorites.
  4. Peru – Peru fought with everything it had and gave a great game without the win could be a surprise on the group stage.

Group D

  1. Croatia –Croatia looked very strong and is in a strong position after the opening fixtures following Argentina's 1-1 draw with Iceland.
  2. Iceland – Iceland surprised Argentina with the draw, Iceland studied Argentina and played placed all factor in place to ensure to get a good result.
  3. Argentina – One of the favorites to win the tournament looked hopeless against a strategic Iceland and Messi penalty miss was not helping the team morale. Argentina needs to find their groove and fast if they want to make it far in the tournament.
  4. Nigeria – The opponent was a stronger team, but Nigeria has talent in the pitch but Argentina & Iceland are not an easy task.

Group E

  1. Serbia – Serbia looked great against a strong Costa Rica but overcame them with that superb free kick to get the Win.
  2. Brazil – Brazil had a strong start with a great opponent the match was even, we all expected to see more from the Brazilian national team.
  3. Switzerland – Switzerland did a great job against a top contender pulled off a draw against Brazil.
  4. Costa Rica – Costa Rica is tough, but it showed signals of weakness but Keylor Navas y such a great goalkeeper which can be key in the team success.

Group F

  1. Sweden – Sweden control most of the game and look very composed throughout the match, but can it be enough to hold off Germany and Mexico?
  2. Mexico – Mexico stunned the world by defeating the World Champion. Mexico coach showed a brilliant strategy score a goal and park the bus, the Germans had more control over the pitch, but it wasn’t enough to beat Mexico.
  3. South Korea – South Korea had a good game with some missed opportunities Sweden control the ball possession, so South Korea needs to take more chances.
  4. Germany – The World Cup Champions looked frustrated with a defensive Mexico and a great goalkeeper. Germany possessed the ball more and had more shots, but it wasn’t enough.

Group G

  1. Belgium – Belgium looked strong against Panama dominated the game and came out with the win, looks like another group winner contender.
  2. England – Harry Kane came out with a late winner for England who dominated most of the game and England are an interesting team that could do more in the world cup.
  3. Tunisia – They had a great a game went toe-to-toe with one of the favorites in the completion, unfortunately, lost on a late goal from England.
  4. Panama – Panama was dominated by Belgium, Panama had 38% possession and Belgium’s were not missing a beat on the field.

Group H

  1. Japan – Japan defeated a tough South American country on there opening game and showed the capacity of the team that could reach far in the tournament.
  2. Senegal – Senegal becomes the first African nation to win a match at Russia 2018.
  3. Poland – Poland had a presence in the pitch, but it was enough to hold off Senegal.
  4. Colombia – Colombia a man down early on the match but would like to a fit James on the pitch, the team could still come out of the Group stages.
