Monterrey entered the second leg of the Liga MX final with a narrow lead of 2-1 over Club America. Rogelio Funes Mori bicycle kick goal in stoppage time gave Monterrey the win in the first leg of the final.
Monterrey blew away the lead by giving up two goals to America, then Funes Mori put in the back of the net in the 75’ due to a huge defensive error by America. The game once again was leveled on aggregate 3-3 which produced the extra time that didn’t find a winner. The Liga MX final was set to be decided b penalties and there is where Monterrey prevailed and became the champions.
