Lucas Zalarayan is Columbus Crew New No. 10

Columbus Crew SC announce transfer of attacking midfielder Lucas Zelarayan for club-record transfer fee.

Columbus Crews SC has made a move that provide head coach Caleb Porter an attacking weapon. The Crew acquired the Argentine attacking midfielder Lucas Zelarayan from Tigres UANL of the Liga MX for the largest transfer fee in club history topping $7 million.

The 27-year-old will join Columbus Crew SC as a Designated Plyer after a four-season run with Tigres bagging 23 goals and 14 assists across all competitions. Zelarayan was a key player in Tigres UNAL which is one of North America’s most successful clubs.

"Lucas is both an intelligent and skillful player whose ability to score and create goals makes him the type of playmaker we want on our team. He has been a key member of one of the most dominant Liga MX teams in recent years, consistently winning national and international titles with Tigres UANL. We expect Lucas to be both a difference-maker and a leader in our squad.”
