Club Leon 2, LAFC 0 | 2020 Concacaf Champions League

Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) took the field against Liga MX side Club Leon in Mexican soil in the Estadio Leon in the Concacaf Champions League match. LAFC is one of the best that MLS has to offer, the team lacked confidence and quality which the team is known for, LAFC had almost four months since last played in an official match.

The Club Leon against LAFC was the first ever continental match for the MLS side. LAFC’s strategy was to give the ball to Carlos Vela or Diego Rossi but Club Leon had depth and quality to have diverse attacks. The Liga MX side took the advantage heading into the second leg. Jean Meneses was left alone on the left side to make it 1-0. Angel Mena late goal made the game 2-0 to put LAFC hopes of being the first team to lift the trophy at a great distance.

LAFC still has hopes they will face Club Leon once again in the second leg of the 2020 Concacaf Champions League Round of 16 that will be played in the Banc of California home of the LAFC.
